Memory Day Events

You can sign up for our July 12th Memory Day at the Spring Creek Community Center below. We will also have a pop-up at this year’s Bluff Mountain Music Festival and will be announcing programs in the Laurel community and Fines Creek soon — so stay tuned.

Participating only takes a little over an hour. You will check in at your appointment time to scan your photos and provide our memory day interns with information about the photos. You will then have a guided storytelling session to describe your photos and capture your memories. Spaces are limited.

• VISIT US at the year’s Bluff Mountain Festival on June 14th. Look for the Appalachian Memory Project booth where you can share your photos and stories. Contact us if you would like to participate.

HOW MEMORY DAY WORKS

• Bring a handful of photos that are meaningful to you and tell a historical story (5-7 is ideal).

• Your photos will be digitized on-site and added to the community archive.

• You’ll have a guided storytelling session where you can share the stories behind your images.

• Your memories may become part of a community published book and an archive documenting the history of our community.

• You can set up an appointment online or you can contact us to book a spot.
