Publishing books as a community.

We have several pilot projects underway. Check back to see as we add new projects.

The Appalachian Memory Project (AMP) pilot program will utilize the space at the Spring Creek Community Center (SCCC) and others around the county to collect and archive oral histories and digital images from Madison County, NC residents. The project includes the creation of a training program to develop skills for others to help gather and preserve personal histories and images, with the ultimate goal of making these materials available in a public online archive and in the publication of a community memory book.

Through Our Eyes: Hurricane Helene
A Community’s Photographic Memory One Year Later

This book, published by the community of Hot Springs on the one year anniversary of the 2024 Hurricane Helen floods, will feature powerful photography from both professional photographers and everyday residents who captured moments of heartbreak, hope, and healing in the days and months following the storm. It will also include written reflections from community leaders and people who were there to witness the impact on the area.

Net proceeds from book sales directly support Rebuild Hot Springs Area. Learn More & Support This Project.

With the Panic Memory Project we are in the very early stages of trying to organize a grassroots effort focused on creating a digital database and book around the 40th Anniversary of Widespread Panic in 2026. We are seeking to work with band historians and fans to tell the story of the band and create a lasting archive to the work they have done over the past 40 years. If you are interested to be part of the project please contact us to ensure you receive more information as this project grows.
